“Really warmed up”
Finding new kinds of pleasure behind the walls
A scientist who first wrote about the G-spot told us she regrets using the word, 'spot,' since it sends people on an often frustrating hunt for a ‘pleasure button’ that's supposed to feel good right away. Now, 30 years later, thousands of women have contributed their experiences, revealing detailed paths to G-Region pleasure.
When SUPER aroused, G-Regions can appear out of nowhere, swell, change textures and become sensitive. We’re not talking ‘wet’ aroused, we’re talking after lots and lots of warm-up, clitoral stimulation, internal stimulation or even orgasm.
“Mine is only there when I’m incredibly worked up. I used to think I just didn’t have one, because I had only looked for it prodding around with my fingers, not after lots of pleasurable sex.”
When a G-Region is first rubbed, it can create a queasy, uncomfortable feeling before the pleasure begins to show. Many describe G-Region pleasure as so unlike other kinds of sexual pleasure that it can take some getting used to:
“For me, it was almost like I had to practice before my body recognised it as a point of pleasure.”
“When I found mine, I had such a I-have-to-pee feeling, I couldn’t imagine that ever feeling good. But I eventually learned to push past that and I’m so glad I did!"
“This area gives me a warm euphoria. And a shivery feeling in other parts of my body - it reverberates outward. It's way different from what my clit pleasure feels like. Less sharp and bigger, somehow.”
“It feels like the pleasure is happening in my muscles, not on the surface like clit pleasure. It takes longer to build and doesn’t really feel good for a minute or so before the pleasure starts.”
“Touching it at first is sort of a tickly-itch sensation but I found I can kind of mentally manipulate it to be less tickly and more of the good building pleasure.”

Many women follow the same progression when building G-Region pleasure. First - lots of sex so the G-Region ‘wakes up.’ Then, start with lighter, gentler touch against the G-region (for longer than you’d think.) Then, when the pleasure is coming through clearly, build to more pressure and/or speed (often more than you’d think.)
After getting super warmed up, start with a lighter touch on the G-Region. Often, this is a gentler, slower variation of a G-Region technique that will feel good later on.
Then, when the gentle touch is feeling pleasurable, build to a steady, sometimes faster and usually harder pressure for the pleasure to really build or to reach G-orgasms.
Massaging the area lightly, moving over the skin
Pressing a wider area (say, with multiple fingertips pushed together, penis head or thicker toy)
Really pressing and kneading into the tissue beneath the skin
Pressing a narrow area (say, with a fingertip or narrow-tipped toy)
This is great for women who have a G-region on the top wall. With one set of fingers inside putting upward pressure on the G-Region, another hand rests outside, above where pubic hair grows, and pushes down against the fingers inside.
There are lots of ways to make a penis, finger or toy to go directly upward into the top wall. See the Angling page for more ways to tilt the hips and accomplish this during penis-in-vagina or strap-on sex.
The G-Region can be "hooked” and pulled with fingers, a penis or a toy. This is a great way to increase pressure without feeling poked at. With a strong and stable-enough grasp, the hips and body move with the motion.
Two fingers take turns rubbing over the G-Region, creating what feels like one long, continuous motion. Kind of like the 'moonwalking' dance-move. When one finger has finished its stroke, the other finger has already begun the next stroke.
“I read an article that said the ‘G-spot’ feels like the tip of a dog's nose on the top of the inside. So I only ever looked there and thought I must not have one. Ten years later a partner found mine is actually smooth and on the left side!”
“A partner put two fingers inside and massaged all the walls and he kept passing by certain parts that felt electric - so we played, 'getting warmer/colder' till he was right on the good spots and we memorized where they are.”
“Mine definitely moves around. So we have to do some gentle searching around a bit each time, but that's actually kind of fun - like scanning for buried treasure.”

So think of the veins on your arm. They branch all over. And if you look at someone else’s arm, their veins are in different places than yours. The nerves that run back from the clitoris along the walls of the vagina are kind of like that. And while 67% of women who have discovered G-Region pleasure locate it on the top or just to one side of the top wall, the rest have them on the left or right side or bottom wall. A full 20% of women say their G-Region ‘moves’ from day to day.
48% of women have a G-Region on the top wall
19% of women have a G-Region slightly left/right of the top wall
9% of women have a G-Region on the side wall
16% of women have a G-Region on the bottom wall
20% of women say their G-Regions seem to move and are not consistently in one place.

One way to make a thorough search of the inside is imagining a pattern to follow so you can sweep all the walls and know you’ve covered everywhere. This can be done with fingertips or a toy (especially one with a curved shape). Stop and give more attention to any places that give extra, different or unusual sensations. And remember - only search when already very aroused!
Starting at the top, ‘due North,’ go all the way in with a finger, toy or penis, and make long outward strokes. Then feel the vaginal wall along northwest, west, etc. until you’ve explored the entire inside surface.
This way of exploring starts at the opening, pressing against the walls in a circular pattern, moving deeper and deeper inside. Make a complete circle at each depth, starting with one knuckle and eventually reaching all the way back.
G-Regions sometimes have a different texture than the surrounding area, which can be felt with the fingers. This is especially true when very aroused. They’re described as being especially spongy, puckered, or slightly ridged. For some, it’s harder than the area around it, like a soft bean under the surface. For others, it’s a softer area, like a part of the wall with more ‘give’ than the wall around it.
When you find a new G-region, there's a good way to remember where it is. Think about how you remember where you parked your car: find a nearby landmark and where the parking spot is in relation. So for a G-Region, it could be something like ‘two knuckles-in behind the ridge’ or ‘immediately left of the rough patch.'
“The only way I can feel mine is to use a curved toy that’s sort of heavy. The angle of it lets me push with enough force on the walls and move it around till I find the place where the feeling is most intense.”
“Pushing on my ‘G-spot’ only feels really good if I’ve already had a clitoral orgasm and even then only if it’s stimulated constantly for like 10 minutes.”
“I made it sort of a project for myself to try lots of ways of rubbing the spot and to give each way lots of time before expecting pleasure. That patience was key for me and I wish I’d done this decades sooner.”
